Snowmobiling

When the snowy winter white blanket covers the northland Snowmobile Fever takes hold. Soon begins a winter long task as groomers from thirteen snowmobile clubs prepare the 900 miles of premier snowmobile trails around Grand Rapids and Itasca County.  For your winter adventures, snowmobiling through snow-packed forests and onto the more than 1000 area lakes is pure exhilaration at its best.

There is direct access to the to Pokegama Lake and the Driftscippers trail system. Bring your own snowmobile of contact us ahead of time to rent assist you in renting one for your stay.

With 1000 Grand Lakes in Itasca County there is a bounty of ice fishing opportunities. At first safe ice Pokegama Lake and as well as many area lakes are dotted with small cities of ice shanties and portables. There are several lakes close to Southwood Resort as well as Pokegama that offer a wide variety ice fishing and spearing action.

You can diddle your ice rod, set a trap for monster northerns with you tip up, or try you hand spearing northerns through the ice, a true up north tradition. Some of the nicest walleye and northerns are taken during the winter months when the fair weather fishermen are curled up in there easy chairs. We have 2 ice houses and portables available if you don't have you own.
